Updated at 7 a.m. Sunday: A double shooting that left a man and woman dead Saturday night in a home in the Spencerville area of Silver Spring is under investigation as a domestic-related murder-suicide, Montgomery County police said.
Capt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman, said Saturday night that officers responded around 8 p.m. to a home in the 15100 block of Peach Orchard Road for a report of a shooting. Inside the home, police along with county fire and rescue service workers found the bodies of a 56-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman. Both appeared to have been shot and a firearm was recovered at the scene. The pair were involved in a relationship and lived together in the home, according to police.
“We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community,” Starks said Saturday night.
Detectives continue to investigate and have not yet determined a motive for the shootings. The identities of the couple will be released once family members have been notified, according to a police statement issued Sunday.
