FAIRFIELD CO, OH(WCMH) – On Thursday, September 27, Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office detectives, Fairfield County SWAT deputies, investigators from the Major Crimes Unit and the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a large scale joint operation in the Fairfield Beach area near Buckeye Lake, according to Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen.
The Major Crimes Unit is a multi-jurisdictional Law Enforcement Task Force which serves the citizens of Fairfield, Athens, and Hocking counties.
Sheriff Phalen reports that Operation Low Tide is a culmination of investigative efforts focused on burglary, theft and drug trafficking. Detectives have been investigating a serial burglary ring, potentially responsible for scores of residential break ins.
According to the Sheriff’s statement, at this time a total of six arrests have been made. The names of those arrested have not been made available. Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
