Teen appears in court charged with pensioner street robbery

A teenager has appeared in court accused of mugging a pensioner near a cashpoint in Crediton.

Chorley Laxton, 18, appeared before magistrates in Exeter charged with robbery.

It is in connection with the alleged mugging of a man aged in his 70s on Friday, September 21.

Police appealed for witnesses after the incident which happened in an alleyway to Francis Court, off the High Street between 7.45pm and 8pm.

The victim was said to have been left shaken after being pushed to the ground and his wallet snatched.

A second teen, aged 17, has also been arrested and charged with the offence. He cannot be named due to his age.

Magistrates sent the case to Exeter Crown Court.

Laxton, of Salmonhutch in Crediton, was remanded in custody until the next hearing on October 25.
